What is bone broth, really?Updated 3 months ago
Bone broth is just properly made stock. Don’t let marketing buzz convince you otherwise.
True stock — or what we now call bone broth — is made by slow-simmering bones (containing cartilage), veggies, and aromatics to create a rich, savory liquid full of flavor and collagen. That’s it. No shortcuts.
The term bone broth came about as a way to correct a decades-long wrong: over time, mass-produced “broths” and “stocks” became flavorless, watered-down, and nutritionally void — a far cry from the nourishing cooking traditions they were meant to represent.
Big food may have moved away from tradition, but we haven’t. At Bare Bones, we believe packaged broth can — and should — do more. With passion, integrity, and better ingredients, it can bring real flavor and real nourishment back to your kitchen.
